The Relatives As Parents Program (RAPP) sponsored Teen Group is a fun learning experience where teens can be themselves, see their potential and make an impact on their community.

Location
Morgan County Starting Points
292 N. Washington Street
Berkeley Springs, WV 25411

For more information or to join the group, please contact any of these teen group advisors:
Sharon Davis:        304-258-1256
Brenda Johnson:  304-754-6842
Lisa Cox:                 304-258-5600

Teens meet twice each month. One meeting will be held on a weekday for a peer support group meeting and the second meeting will be on a Saturday for a group community service project.

Once a month, teens meet to share with other teens who can relate to their circumstances and problems. Monthly meetings provide a safe place for teens to share. Each teen is asked to sign an agreement to maintain confidentiality. After group sharing, refreshments and social time, teens spend a portion of each meeting planning a group community service project.

The Teen Group is for kinship and foster care teens ages 12 years and older. The Teen Group provides an opportunity for teens to express themselves peer-to-peer in a supportive environment. The purpose of the group is to build self-esteem and to give each teen a sense of accomplishment by working together on community service. The Teen Group shows teens that although the cannot control their circumstances, they can work together to accomplish whatever they set their minds to. They learn the importance of each teen doing their part on a team and the impact they can make on the community.

Community Service

The Teen Group meets one Saturday each month for a community service project or a special outing. The Teen Group chooses a project and plans the necessary steps to complete it. There are adult advisors who provide support and encouragement.

Participation in the Teen Group and community service projects includes fun incentives and rewards depending on the size of the project and funding available. Rewards may range from skating and bowling parties and trips to amusement parks or sightseeing activities. The Teen Group may also plan fundraisers such as car washes or bake sales to help support group activities.
